Mt.Lhotse (8,516m/ 27,939ft ) lies about 3 km south of Mount Everest, separated by the South...
Singu Chuli Peak or Fluted Peak located in the heart of Annapurna Range within the surroundings of Annapurna Sanctuary is an attractive mountain to climb from both a visual and climbing aesthetics. Singu Chuli is a fantastic looking peak that seems much more daunting viewed from Annapurna base camp than its height suggests. This impression grows the closer you get. Various routes are possible but the south ridge dominates the eye. Combined with Tharpu Chuli, its much easier neighbor, it makes a great and cheap proposition for serious Himalayan climbing in fantastic scenery without the crowds. It is a part of the ridge line extending south from Glacier Dome and sharing it with another attractive peak Tharpu Chuli or Tent Peak. This trek is strongly recommended for excellent mountain views. You will enjoy the great cultural diversity in Ghandurk, Chomorong & Ghorepani before entering Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) Base Camp. You can enjoy the panoramic views of the world’s highest mountains such as Annapurna I, Annapurna III and other snowy peaks.
All peaks must be climbed with a well climbing trained guide. Singu Chuli 6501m, formerly known as Fluted Peak is the highest amongst the “Trekking Peaks” of Nepal. Wilfred Noyce, the first man to climb this mountain with David Cox, compared its beauty with Indian’s highest and probably the most beautiful peak, Nanda Devi. This peak is situated in the Annapurna Sanctuary adjoined to Tharpu Chuli and across the Hinchuli peak.
We arrive at the Base camp of Singu Chuli after walking up the Modi Khola gorge to the Annapurna Sanctuary Base camp, at around 4350m and then establish two higher camps, one at 4900m at the approach of North East face and a higher one at 5500m, on the North East face of the mountain before the summit is gained. Vertical walls near the summit pose some technical challenge on this climb. This climb is suggested only to people with some alpine and ice climbing experience.
Safety is a major consideration during all our expeditions however there are dangers involved in climbing 6000m peaks that cannot be avoided. The extreme altitude, weather, cold and other mountaineering hazards ensure high altitude climbing has unavoidable risks at the best of times, members of our expeditions need to be aware of these dangers and accept that they are an integral part of high altitude mountaineering.
