  • Day 01: Arrival day in Kathmandu (1,300 m / 4,265 ft)

    Your journey begins with your arrival in Kathmandu (1,300 m / 4,265 ft), the vibrant capital city and main international gateway to Nepal via Tribhuvan International Airport. Upon landing, you will be warmly welcomed by a representative from Sherpa Himalaya, who will greet you with a traditional flower garland and a brief introduction to your upcoming adventure. Afterward, you will be comfortably transferred to your hotel, where you can relax, freshen up, and recover from jet lag, preparing yourself for the exciting Himalayan journey ahead.

  • Day 02: Trek Pre paration day in Kathmandu

    Trek Preparation Day in Kathmandu is dedicated to finalizing your Himalayan adventure. On this day, we will meet to briefly review the full trekking itinerary and provide important information about the journey ahead.

    Our team will also assist you in checking your clothing and trekking equipment to ensure you are fully prepared for the conditions in the mountains. If any essential gear is missing, you will be guided to trusted shops in Kathmandu where you can purchase or rent necessary items.

    This preparation day ensures everything is well-organized and ready for a smooth and comfortable trekking experience. You will spend the night at your hotel in Kathmandu, relaxing and getting ready for the adventure ahead.

    Note: During peak trekking seasons, flights between Kathmandu and Lukla Airport may be operated from Ramechhap due to air traffic regulations. In such cases, you will take late afternoon drive of 4–5 hours from Kathmandu to Ramechhap, stay overnight there, and catch your Lukla flight the following morning.

  • Day 03: Fly to Lukla and trek to Paiya (Chutok) (2730m/8954ft)(3-4 hrs

    Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla (2,860 m), enjoying a spectacular mountain flight with breathtaking views of the Himalayas, including peaks of the Everest region. After landing, begin a gentle trek to Paiya (2,730 m), which takes approximately 3-4 hours. The trail descends through beautiful forests, traditional Sherpa villages, and suspension bridges while offering stunning views of Kongde Ri and surrounding snow-capped mountains. Paiya is a peaceful settlement and an excellent place to experience the natural beauty and local culture of the lower Everest region.

  • Day 04: Trek from Paiya (2,730 m) to Pangom (2,850 m)(5-6 hrs)

    Trek from Paiya (2,730 m) to Pangom (2,850 m), a rewarding journey of approximately 5–6 hours through dense rhododendron and pine forests, traditional villages, and scenic mountain trails. The route crosses the Kari La Pass (3,145 m), offering beautiful views of Numbur Himal, Kongde Ri, and the surrounding hills. After descending from the pass, the trail continues through peaceful landscapes before reaching the charming Sherpa village of Pangom, where trekkers can experience authentic local culture and hospitality.

  • Day 05: Trek from Pangom to Ramailo Danda

    Trek from Pangom (2,850 m) to Ramailo Danda (3,276 m), a scenic journey of approximately 5–6 hours through remote Sherpa settlements, lush forests, and rolling mountain ridges. The trail gradually ascends, offering increasingly impressive views of the surrounding hills and distant Himalayan peaks. As you reach Ramailo Danda, meaning “Beautiful Hill,” you are rewarded with panoramic vistas of the Hinku Valley and the majestic mountains of the Everest region. This peaceful campsite serves as an excellent stop on the approach to Mera Peak, providing both natural beauty and a sense of adventure in the remote Himalayas.

  • Day 06: Trek from Ramailo Danda (3,276 m) to Chhatra Khola (2,800 m)(6-7 hrs)

The trail winds through dense rhododendron and bamboo forests, traversing remote ridges and descending into the pristine Hinku Valley. Along the way, trekkers can enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding hills, cascading streams, and untouched wilderness. Chhatra Khola, located at the confluence of several mountain streams, is a tranquil resting point and an important stop on the classic Mera Peak trekking route.

    Trek from Kothe (3,600 m) to Thaknak (4,350 m), a gradual ascent of approximately 4–5 hours through the spectacular upper Hinku Valley. The trail follows the Hinku River, passing grazing pastures, seasonal yak camps, and rugged alpine landscapes. As you gain altitude, magnificent views of Mera Peak, Kusum Kanguru, Kyashar, and other snow-capped Himalayan giants begin to dominate the horizon. Thaknak, situated beneath towering glaciers and dramatic mountain walls, provides an excellent resting point for acclimatization before continuing higher toward Mera Peak.

  • Day 09: Rest day in Taknak(4,350 m)

    Spend a rest and acclimatization day at Thaknak (4,350 m) to allow your body to adjust to the increasing altitude before ascending further toward Mera Peak. This important day helps reduce the risk of altitude-related illness while enhancing your chances of a successful summit. You can take short acclimatization hikes to nearby ridges or viewpoints, enjoy magnificent views of Mera Peak, Kusum Kanguru, Kyashar, and the surrounding glaciers, and experience the peaceful alpine environment of the upper Hinku Valley. The day also provides an opportunity to relax, explore the area, and prepare for the higher elevations ahead.

    Trek from Thaknak (4,350 m) to Khare (5,045 m), a gradual ascent of approximately 3–4 hours through the rugged and spectacular landscapes of the upper Hinku Valley. The trail passes alongside the Dig Glacier, offering breathtaking views of Mera Peak, Charpate Himal, Kyashar, and other towering Himalayan peaks. As you gain elevation, the terrain becomes increasingly alpine, with dramatic glacial scenery and expansive mountain vistas. You can take a short acclimatization hike toward the glacier above Khare or nearby ridges, which rewards you with breathtaking close-up views of Mera Peak, Kusum Kanguru, and the surrounding ice formations. In the afternoon, climbers typically practice basic climbing techniques and equipment use under the guidance of the climbing team, making this both a recovery and preparation day in the heart of the Himalayas.

  • Day 12: Trek from Khare to High camp [5,780m/18,958ft]: 4-5 hrs

    Trek from Khare (5,045 m) to High Camp (5,780 m), a challenging ascent of approximately 4–5 hours across steep, glaciated terrain on the Mera Peak route. The trail involves a gradual climb onto the Mera Glacier, where crampons and rope support may be used depending on conditions. Along the way, trekkers are rewarded with extraordinary panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, and Kanchenjunga on clear days. The landscape becomes increasingly stark and alpine, with vast ice fields and dramatic mountain scenery. High Camp offers a spectacular but basic resting point beneath the towering summit pyramid of Mera Peak, preparing climbers for the early morning summit push.

  • Day 13: Summit push from Mera High Camp to Summit[6,461m/21,1907ft] and back to Khare (5045m/16,547ft)

    The summit push from Mera High Camp (5,780 m) to Mera Peak Summit (6,461 m / 21,190 ft) begins in the early hours of the morning, typically around midnight or 1 a.m. The climb takes approximately 6–8 hours to reach the summit, depending on weather and group pace. The route follows a steady ascent over the Mera Glacier using crampons, ropes, and fixed lines, guided by experienced climbing Sherpas. As you approach the summit ridge, the views become truly extraordinary, revealing five of the world’s highest peaks—Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, and Kanchenjunga—along with countless surrounding Himalayan giants. After reaching the summit and spending a short time celebrating this remarkable achievement, you begin the descent back to High Camp and continue all the way down to Khare (5,045 m), which takes an additional 5–7 hours. This long and demanding day concludes with a well-earned rest in Khare, marking one of the most memorable highlights of the Mera Peak expedition.

  • Day 14: Trek from Khare (5,045 m) to Kothe (3,600 m) (5-6 hours)

    Trek from Khare (5,045 m) to Kothe (3,600 m), a long and mostly downhill descent of approximately 5–6 hours through the beautiful upper Hinku Valley. The trail retraces parts of the route along the Dig Glacier and then gradually drops into greener alpine terrain, passing yak pastures, river crossings, and scattered settlements. As you lose altitude, the air becomes noticeably richer and the landscape more forested, offering a refreshing change after the high mountain environment. Along the way, trekkers can still enjoy distant views of Mera Peak and surrounding peaks before reaching the peaceful village of Kothe, a comfortable stop for rest after the summit achievement.

  • Day 15: Trek back from Kothe to Tuli Kharka/Chatrabhuk (5-6 hours)

    Trek from Kothe (3,600 m) to Tuli Kharka / Chatrabhuk (around 4,300 m), a steady ascent of approximately 5–6 hours through the beautiful forested trails of the lower Hinku Valley. The route gradually climbs away from the river, passing through dense rhododendron and pine forests, with occasional clearings offering views back toward Mera Peak and the surrounding ridges. As you gain elevation, the landscape becomes quieter and more alpine, with cool mountain air and peaceful wilderness surroundings. Reaching Tuli Kharka, trekkers are rewarded with stunning sunset views over the Himalayan horizon, making it a perfect final mountain stop before crossing the Zatrwa La Pass toward Lukla.

  • Day 16: Trek from Thuli Kharka to Lukla(6-7 hrs)

    Trek from Tuli Kharka (around 4,300 m) to Lukla (2,860 m), a long and rewarding descent of approximately 6–7 hours via the Zatrwa La Pass (4,600 m). The trail begins with a steady climb to the pass, where trekkers are greeted with sweeping panoramic views of Mera Peak, Numbur Himal, and the surrounding Himalayan ranges. From the pass, the route descends steeply through alpine ridges, grassy slopes, and forested paths, gradually re-entering lower valleys and inhabited settlements. As you approach Lukla, the landscape becomes greener and more lively, marking the transition back to civilization after the remote wilderness of the Hinku Valley. Reaching Lukla concludes the trekking journey, offering a sense of accomplishment and relief after an incredible Himalayan adventure.

  • Day 17: flight from Lukla Airport (2,800 m / 9,186 ft) to Kathmandu

    The return flight from Lukla Airport (2,800 m / 9,186 ft) to Kathmandu is a short yet unforgettable journey that takes approximately 25–30 minutes.

    This scenic flight offers breathtaking aerial views of the Himalayas, rolling hills, deep valleys, and traditional villages of Nepal. As you leave the mountains behind, you get one last glimpse of the Everest region, making it a memorable conclusion to your trekking adventure.

    Upon arrival in Kathmandu, your Everest Base Camp journey officially comes to an end, leaving you with lifelong memories of the Himalayas.

    Note: During peak seasons, flights from Lukla Airport may be rerouted to Ramechhap due to air traffic management. In such cases, you will take a short flight from Lukla to Ramechhap, followed by a 4–5 hour drive back to Kathmandu. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel for a comfortable and peaceful overnight stay.

  • Day 18: Free Day in Kathmandu

    A free day in Kathmandu is an important buffer day in the itinerary, mainly to accommodate possible flight delays or cancellations due to weather conditions in the Himalayas.

    If flights operate on time, this day offers a wonderful opportunity to explore the cultural and historical highlights of Kathmandu Valley, including UNESCO World Heritage Sites, vibrant markets, and local neighborhoods. It is also a great time for last-minute shopping and collecting souvenirs for family and friends.

    Most importantly, this relaxed day allows you to reflect on your incredible trekking journey in Nepal and fully absorb the unforgettable experiences of the Himalayas.

    On your final day in Kathmandu, a Sherpa Himalaya representative will meet you at your hotel for a warm farewell before your departure. You will be comfortably transferred to Tribhuvan International Airport in time for your flight, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free exit from Nepal.

    Before saying goodbye, the team will express their gratitude for sharing this incredible Himalayan journey with you. As a token of appreciation, you will be presented with a traditional Buddhist scarf (Kha-tak), symbolizing peace, prosperity, long life, and harmony, along with a certificate marking your successful completion of Mera Peak Expedition.
