Pikey Trek | Explore Lower Solukhumbu 2026 with Mt. Everest

If you’re looking for a short and wonderful trek in the Everest region near Kathmandu, this is a great route. Pikey Trek is a wonderful journey where it leads you to beautiful Solu areas which are the southern part of Khumbu and Everest region, on this walk visiting lovely Sherpa and other mix hill tribe villages with grand views of snowcapped peaks with Everest.

Pikey Trek begins with an exciting overland drive to Jiri from Kathmandu heading North East with super views of the mountain range as the drive leads past Charikot town to reach at famous Jiri, also known as Switzerland of Nepal due to its beautiful location on a green valley with great views of mountains and rolling hills.

Walk leads past Jiri town following the same classic route of Everest for few days on the main trail till Lamjura a high pass in the midst of beautiful forest surrounding, from here our walk leads to our highlight of the adventure on top of Pikey Hill with super wide views Mt. Everest (8,848.86m / 29, 028ft) Lhotse (8,516 m-24,940 ft), Nuptse (7,855m-25,772 ft), Kangtenga (6,782 m / 22, 380 ft) Tharmarsarku ( 6,623 m / 21, 855 ft) Kwangde (6,011 m / 19,837 ft) Kusum Khanguru (6,373 m / 21,030 ft) and many other smaller unnamed peaks with Numbur peak.

After a delightful moment on top of Pikey, our walk concludes on reaching a nice Sherpa village and town at Phaplu for the flight back to Kathmandu with a glorious moment on Pikey Trek.

Itinerary

  • Day 01: Arrival day in Kathmandu (1300m)

    On this day you will be landed at the Capital City of Nepal-Kathmandu (1300m/4265 ft). It is the only International Airport of Nepal. You will be received by Sherpa Himalaya Representative.

    Then with a brief introduction you will be welcomed by flower Garland. You will be Taken to your Hotel where you can rest and freshen up to keep away Jet Lag. You will get a nearby location map from hotel reception and you can explore around.

    Overnight at KTM Hotel

  • Day 02: Drive from Kathmandu to Dhap 8-9 hours (2932m)

    Today we will drive early in the morning from Kathmandu to Dhap. The drive will be 8-9 hours long.

  • Day 03: Trek from Dhap to Jhapre 5-6 Hours (2829m)

    We will start our drive early in the morning after breakfast. Today our destination will be at Jhapre. The trail will be 5-6 hours long. The trail will be easy through the forest with normal uphill Trek.

    Overnight at Jhapre

  • Day 04: trek from jhapre to Pikey Peak Base camp 5-6 hour (3640m)

    Today we will Trek upto Pikey base camp. We will climb slowly up towards Bulbule. It is a grassy ridge. On the trail you will encounter some small local shops. You can also see amazing view of Mt. Everest

  • Day 05: Trek from Pikey peak base camp to Junbesi 6-7 hours(2700m)

    We will head towards summit early in the before having breakfast. We will make a gradual trail upward. You will encounter many prayer flags on the rocks.

    The Pikey peak summit is at 4065m. It will take around 1 hours to reach there. You will be provided with panoramic view of Annapurna, Everest and also Kanchanjunga range mountains.

    After staying sometime at the summit we will hike back to Jasmaneybanjyang for breakfast. After breakfast we head towards Junbesi.

    Overnight at Junbesi

  • Day 06: Hiking Day in Junbesi

    Today is a rest day in Junbeshi. You can explore this beautiful small town. You will see one of the oldest monastery there too.

    You have also option to Hike upto Thuptencholing Gumba. A large settlement  of Monks and Nun. Its a completely different place there. Making a hike there will be a worth. It will take 1-2 hours normal uphill hike.

    Overnight at Junbesi

  • Day 07: Trek from Junbeshi to Phaplu 4-5 hours(2469m)

    Today will be the last day of our Trek. Now after our breakfast we will descend down to Phaplu. It will take 3-4 hours of Trek.

    Due to recent construction there is the availability of roads straight from Junbesi to Phaplu.

    Overnight at Phaplu.

     

  • Day 08: Drive back to Kathmandu

    Today we will drive or fly back to Kathmandu.

    You will be picked by Sherpa Himalaya representative and dropped to Hotel.

    After this beautiful and adventurous Pikey Trek, you can have a proper rest at your hotel.

  • Day 09: Final Departure

    Today morning you Sherpa Himalaya representative will be there at your hotel for last meet. You will be dropped at airport considering airport time.

    Sherpa Himalaya will thank you for amazing time together and handover Buddhist Scarf (Kha-tak) which symbolizes peace, prosperity, Long life and Harmony to everyone and certificate for your completion of Pikey Trek with Sherpa Himalaya.
